Recirculation Flap Clicking

Hi Dan

Thanks for the info from the manual. Don't think I fancy removing the dash, so will take out the seat as you suggest and have a further look.

I did wonder about cutting the plastic panel. May be join up the hexagon holes on the left had side to see if that gets me to the motor. Can't see the plastic is doing much really.

Thanks again and will see if I get anywhere over the weekend.

I did wonder if that was a possibility but I reckon its there for some structure for the glovebox hinges - if its just the bar at the bottom where the hinges clip in and you have something heavy in there the glovebox could make the bar sag and then go out of alignment.

Think I will give a go, if it cause any problems with the glove box fit afterwards I will cut a aluminium plate to put the structure back in.
If it is dry over the weekend I will get it cut out and see if it gets me close enough to the motor.

I would be tempted to see what access a hole saw would give in the right place while still keeping the integrity of the panel.

I know its not a Caddy but....
Had a look at the Good Lady's Ibiza this afternoon.
The side of the dashboard, where it meets the door is a removable panel.
The motor is JUST accessible through this and under the dash itself.
It's a lot easier with the glovebox out!!
There's a T10 screw holding the motor bracket that can be seen head up in the footwell.
The other one is at the top with the T10 head facing rearward and will be a bit of a pig without the glove box out.
Now looking for a replacement motor on eBay - the Bush on one of the gears has loads of play, so the actuator moves OK one way, but the other way it loses mesh.

Finally had some time to have a better look at it.
Don't think cutting the panel out or drilling holes in it will help at all. Looks like I am going to have to try a drop the whole fan box down to get to it.
The side cover doesn't give any access either.

Fitted a replacement to the Ibiza a couple of days ago - from a Polo.
Couldn't find anywhere that OBDeleven would calibrate the heater stuff.
So just connected it, lined it up with the flap and gave it a go.
No clicking. Flap works as it should, so I'm leaving it for now, see if it survives without coding!

Martin172, did you ever managed to get this fixed fella as im the same boat and so far from what i see its quite fidly if you have to take the dash out. I was wondering if you found another way

Afraid all I did was to unplug it. Then forgot all about it until your message , must have another look sometime but don't think there is much way around the dash coming out to do it.

Yeh am thinking the same , looks like a mission. Such a daft place to put it, even if there was access through the plastic behind the glove its still irrelevant. Theres a metal bar going across the location of the motor so fiddly. Think its better to unplug

Wow thought it would be expensive but not that much. Will stick with unplugging it until I pluck up the courage to remove the dash or have another reason to do it.

Hi there, sorry for dragging up this old thread..can you get your hand in to disconnect without too much hassle? Seems a pain in the arse to change so this maybe looks the best option.

I have this same issue and he clicking is doing ma head in . When I took the glove box out there was a part of the dashboard with slots in it over a small section . My plan was to dermal this section out the way to allow access to the part needing swapped out . Taking the dash out is out of my timescales I use my van daily
