The reason i think the module is built into the slip ring is when i search for a scm for my van it shows a slip ring/module. All wiring plugs in around the slip ring so im wondering if mk4’s dont have a seperate scm.

But the OP had a 2019 startline caddy which is obviously a MK4 so the advice given by Javito covers that model.

Which makes me think it can't be built in, plus the slip ring is a thin flat set of copper rings on all vehicles, it needs the right amount of rings for a given set of functions, but it's not a module it's a set of contact pads and a circular set of copper tracks so the steering wheel can turn but still have a connection for the horns and buttons etc. It's not a module kind of gadget. Theres also a clockspring kind of connector which is a wound ribbon cable which unwinds or winds depending on steering position, these are the only way to get rotation and button controls on any vehicle.

What do your current stalks plug into? That's the steering controller likely.

No iv not done a scan as im not really sure how to as i have obdeleven. Was hoping sumone would jump in and let me know if a mk4 has a separate module. Also maybe sum coding instructions other than what google tells me to do.

Just incase this info is relevant, the van came with mfsw without cruise buttons,and mfd.

Sorry i forgot to get back to u about where my stalks plug in. All the wiring plugs into the slip ring. Thats what makes me think its the scm combined with the slip ring. And may be the reason i cant find the scm?

There's a function to back up your entire long coding for every module using obdeleven, which creates a text file you can send or share, have a poke around in the software app and see if you can find it. I sent mine to my own email when I first got obdeleven though I don't use that any more as I have vcds and vcp, but it is doable.

This should identify the scm part number and module details which could then be used to verify the type of SCM and what it looks like.

With a part number you can find a picture for a replacement module, then you know what you're looking for. Either way, if it's built in or not, it seems to need coding again to accept cruise. I posted a video on the process for a Golf in the other thread you asked in.
