Rear axle lowering help

Resurrecting this one again because I'm useless...

On the rear fixing, I have a welded square nut to the inside tab on the van, so how do you fix the drop shackles to this end?

The only way I can see it working is if I use two shorter bolts to attach each shackle to each tab on the van? If I use one long bolt (the one that came out), one shackle can obviously be bolted in place but the other is just hanging off the bolt with nothing securing it in place which obviously isn't correct. Also, the kit I bought doesn't come with any extra bolts, so there isn't any clue of how I should be fixing them.

Excuse what may be a simple question, I'm not usually the one working on my van, but lockdown has me bored so I'm trying to do stuff...

Need to resurrect this thread before I lose the plot. I have fitted the front coilovers and now onto the rear springs. I have removed the spring put underneath the axel and am in the process of attempting to put the shackle plates on but I’m struggling to get it to line up.

Anyone have any tips on getting the 3 plates to line up with the spring locator? Best I can get is two bolts in, got to be something easy I’m missing

Hi just resurrecting this post again as I can’t access the links on the how to guide.

I’m using the stanced UK coil over kit to lower my mk4 caddy but I’m having an issue with refitting the anti roll bar. What’s everyone done about the roll bar or am I experiencing something no ones had issues with before?

Roll bar would fit fine if I set the rear on highest ride height setting but that defeats the object of lowering kit.

Any help is much appreciated

Hi Marcus, I've just fitted the Stance+ kit to my Mk4. I did not touch the anti-roll bar when fitting mine. I followed the guide that can be found on this forum. Once I had the leaf springs out I used a jack to lift the axle up into the approximate position whilst lining up the new brackets. I did have issues with my leaf springs, they had fixed dowels so they could not be flipped to align with the new plates. I ended up getting new dowels made at a local machine shop.

Thanks buddy, I ended putting the anti roll bar in a forward position exactly how dark side developments do theirs.

Worked a treat.

Thinking about the retrofit xenon/drl headlight conversion now...maybe...think I’ll be needing a ballast/module separate as I am currently running standard non xenon headlights

Well lads just came across this post , for the bolts on the rear axle do they have to be torqued equally ? Like would there be a issue if they were done uneven thanks

Whenever bolts require to be torqued they are always better to be done equally, in this case if you are referring to the plate bolts then nip each one up and make sure they are sitting square and flat then tighten each one up and lastly torque them.

Doing them from loose up to torque can make them not sit flat.

Please, can someone tell me dimensions of this bolt?

Is it M10 (diameter 10mm over thread) and approx diameter 16mm over the head of the bolt?
Or can someone tell me diameter of the hole in axle, under the leaf spring?

It's 15mm hole. You don't have bolt in later year Caddys.

I will rising my Caddy (2009) and have additional leaf spring, but without this bolt.

So probably, cylinder head screw M10 will be right way
