Finished my last night shift this morning so made a start on a few jobs on the Caddy.

I had planned to paint the calipers, hubs and dust shields and give the arch liners a good clean for a while now so thought this was the perfect opportunity

Jacked up and put on axel stands





The rear discs are looking fairly worn but I was planning on changing these before August when the MOT is due



Wire brush on a cordless drill gave the following result















The arches were cleaned with Britemax Grime Out twice and then I used an Autoglym tar remover I had leftover. I then used auto finesse oblitarate but also ran out of that so will need to go over them again to get them fully clean.





















I gave the wheels a clean and scrubbed the tyres whilst they're off





Finally gave the van a clean with Britemax pure max

So today I got one coat of paint on the brakes and dust shields. They are not perfect but a lot better than they were. I'm undecided what to do with the brakes, whether upgrade the caddy alone or get a big brake kit for the Golf and then use the R's callipers discs and pads for the Caddy.



Looks very glossy in this pic however it is satin so does come out with a satin finish when it dries

Not really sure what to do with the van at the minute with everything going off, trying to think of jobs I can do without having to go out and get bits. I would have been getting the van lowered around now and putting the Scirocco alloys on. I'm still working so it's a good time to save a bit of money. When everything gets back to normal (hopefully)I will lower the van and then I'll be getting some bodywork done so hopefully can get a decent price for that as I think that industry might be a little quiet? I may get a new headunit, gear knob and pedal covers at some point but not sure when. After that the interior will be fully finished!

So no drastic changes with the Caddy just yet.

Saw this picture on one of the forums on Facebook, hopefully it will give people an idea of what my plans are for the van.



Same colour
Lowered
Scirocco alloys (they're the 18" turbine alloys, mine are the 19" Lugano alloys)
Colour coded mirrors (I have decided to do this instead of the touran mirrors, I will sell them on. I have found a way of getting rid of the whistling sound whilst retaining the original mirrors so I'll do this now)
Wind deflectors (never had these before and never have been a big fan, but I think they seem to work on the van?)
Touran front bumper with black grill and silver badge

Anyway, yesterday I fitted my Scirocco alloys as the weather is getting really warm now. I had planned for the van to be lowered by now but I can't complain with everything happening recently.















The next mini project was the touran headlights.

In the oven at 100 degrees for just over 10 minutes



After much persuasion with a screwdriver and stanley knife



Three screws holding in the surround and 2 for the lenses



And apart







Keyed ready for paint



Just waiting now for the Matt Black spray paint and tigerseal to turn up so I can get them sprayed and put back together.

This is what they will look like



Only difference is I will fit silver indicators like I have done previously to my other cars so they look nice and clean.

Paint arrived this morning so, some more progress on the headlights today.





















I put them together just to get a picture to see what they will look now, this is without bulbs, lenses so will look slightly different but I am happy with them so far.
