Mk4 xenon headlight bulb change

Post by fiolek67 »

Need some help here. Do i have to remove the whole headlight assembly to change d8s xenon bulbs? Mine factory (singapore) fitted with bixenon. Need to change them. It looks super tight to change with the headlight on the body.

I changed mine out of the vehicle as I was upgrading to 35W and had to do some work on the sockets etc.

Probably can do it in situ, but lots easier out !

Remove unit on carrier plate so you hopefully don't have to do any alignment !

Expert may well be able to offer more and better advice ...

If you’re going to remove the whole headlight, then Yes, a few screws under the wheel arch, and just use a bit of cardboard or something to hold it away. Here’s a photo of mine changing from Halogen to Bi Xenon

Hi @Zafran.saleem

For Bi-Xenon Headlight upgrade the chaps at Hazzydayz sourced the Headlighlights, for the 35w Bi-Xenon upgrade, got 2 x 8K0 941 597E Ballasts from eBlag, and 2 x Osram Xenarc D3S 35w Lamps online from Lichtex.de. Just to round it off, went for Travelinlite LED lamps for fog lights coded as cornering lights, and Travelinlite LED rear number plate lamps ;)
Cheers

@Ripley55
Hello!
I'm about to upgrade to Bi-xenon as well, did you have to replace the BCM or do anything with the wiring?
Or just coding? :)

Hi @ NISSE JÄRNET
Mine was just coding once the new headlights, lamps and drivers/modules were fitted, this was carried out by Hazzydays,

Ok, do you know if they replaced the BCM/central electric module?
Or just headlights with ballasts and bulbs? :)
I have complete headlights with ballasts/bulbs, bit not sure if i need to source a BCM from a Xenon caddy.

Hi,

Not heard of anyone with a Mk4 needing to change BCM. Mine was fine.
Just recode as per the How To guide.
Recode with VCDS or OBD-Eleven.

That would be great if so! I compared my BCM to a friend that also has a 2018 but with Xenon ans our part numbers are different. (And coding off course, but that shouldn't be hard to code)
Is the guide here on the forums? I'm too new so i can't see much yet :(
