EX BG caddy VR6 3.2

Just a little update until my build is back up and running. This is for me a sad update. The road people/ council need to sort out theses pot holes and one of the big ones that I couldn’t avoid has damaged one of my freshly painted wheels
As you can see it has taken lumps out of the paint and the wheel itself and at £90 a wheel for a refurb it’s not good

Shittah!
Roads are a joke, and no chance of compensation when things like this happen. Im tempted to go down to 16s with puffy tyres.
If it makes you feel any better, some loser keyed my bonnet recently. I’m gonna try the build up of lacquer/wet sand/polish technique until I can get it sorted properly.

@petrev I would imagine Doc is on the case.
@3rdLeg
I would put 16s on in the winter but they won’t go over my calipers

Tried welding for the first ever time today with a gas less welder.

Everyone has to start somewhere
Don’t look to bad after a bit of sanding

@petrev
I will certainly be having some fun with it before I start welding the brackets for my rear brakes.

Finally got round to welding the strengthening plates on to the rear axle today.
Also managed to finish of the caliper bracket as I needed to weld a spacer.
Probably better than a load of washers
Now just need to send it all off to be powder coated black (Did think about going BG blue)

Gutted to see that damaged wheel mate. Our roads are truly rubbish!
Nice work with the welder mate, your technique looks good as those welds are nice and neat!

@peter
Our roads are shocking. It will probably cost me £100 to get the wheel refurbished.
As for the welding I’ve had a friend show me and help me to weld. But I’m getting there as they say practice makes perfect
@petrev
Thank you

Looking good Sean. I was looking for your build thread the other day, but still not back up? I was going to ask you how you got on with the arch kit you were going to fit? Can I ask what one you bought and what you had to do?
I’ve got to replace my drivers side front wing and thought as I’ll take the van off the road for a few days I may aswell look into doing this while it’s off the road.

@Dislexicdonkey
The arch trims I have I bought from vanstyle. They are for a mk4 caddy so they are slightly different at the front. I had to cut the front ones to make them fit weld them together, fill and paint them. Hopefully when my build thread is back up you will be able to see how I made it work as I did take photos as I went through the process.
