Air con - condensation or leak?

Hey everyone,

lot's of air con use with the nice weather and noticed liquid collecting near the air con in the engine what looks and feels like water, and has no smell. I think/hope it's just condensation but why would VW design it like this because it will just corrode the metal where it's collecting. Air con was regased this year and still works well. Worried as someone said it could be refrigerant leak.

Doesn't look bad in the photos but much more liquid has collected in these places after about an hour of air con.

Probably just condensation where the suction line (the bigger pipe) is sweating after an hours usage. The dashboard vents should all have about the same temperature blowing out of them when the A/C is running, about 3-8c @ 20c outside temp. Check the pollen filter as well to make sure there is plenty of air flow across the coil.

Refrigerant is a gas under pressure so it will never stay liquid once released to the atmosphere, it converts instantly to a gas again. You'd never see it.

Has to be condensation.
