Caddy sdi - tdi transplant

Post by CoralCaddy88 »

Hi guys,

I’ve searched the forums but I’m struggling to access some of the information regarding this engine swap:.

I have a caddy 2k 2004 plate sdi that’s on its last legs and I’ve gone out and bought a doner vehicle that’s a 2004 plate bjb engined tdi..

I am a car painter by trade with some technical know how and I’m wondering how hard the conversion is to carry out .. wether it’s dashboard out etc etc.. any advice greatly appreciated. I have a friend that can get the immobiliser removed too.. thanks in advance..

I’m also struggling to upload any photos of anyone has some advice..

I’m halfway through this swap.
Don’t have access to much of the forum so meddling through on my own!
Mechanical side is easy enough (if you have a full donor) you will need more than just ecu instruments and engine!!! Gearbox mount is different, driveshaft ends are different, gearbox linkage, relay and wiring. Few other bit and bobs you can take from donor, exhaust etc.
Starts to get complicated for me when I come to the electronics, don’t know if can be done just changing the coding or if reprogramming is needed!?!
Hoping to have the engine in at weekend so I can make a start on electronics
