Sluggish and poor mpg

Post by sheepy92 »

Long story short van has recently started giving a puff of white smoke out the back on cold starts and experiencing sluggish accerlation low down until boost builds. I have checked boost pressure requested and actual all in range the van has been mapped by a repuatable guy recommend highly on this forum, decided to delve into dreaded injector route and checked injector deviations results as pictured, not sure what to do for the best have seen guides on carrying out the adaptation of injector minimum quantity deviation values but dont want to make things worse Image

Check egr commanded Vs actual maybe? Could be the egr is stuck open. Or the maf is bad. Does the reading for airflow increase sharply when revving? Try pulling the maf plug when engine is off, then start it and drive, see if it's better with the default airflow map. (No maf).

The Injection deviation doesn't look terrible.

Hi mate thanks for the advice deviations only seem erratic / higher differentials when cold idle when its warm they hover around 0.20 + and minus so not too bad when up to temp , im not 100% if the egr was mapped out at time of remap, i will check airflow readings and give that a go just to mention it has had the emmision update on the van as i noticed the air flow transformer in the inlet and it doesnt like it when i tryed it without before goes into limp mode

I've had an issue with a stick egr before, the engine smokes like mad from cold for a minute or two and is really lumpy. Once wanted up to about 60 degrees, it suddenly became smooth and ran fine. It was a jammed egr (stuck open), recorded everything, all looked good, only fault code was high airflow reading error for the maf, but it was the egr at fault.

Other times I had a vr6 with a stalling and rough idle issue, it was the maf. Also that one didn't pull properly until a high rpm then suddenly wanted to go strongly.
